Alpine Sliding

Well, yesterday was a real treat. I decided to take a friend of mine up to New Hampshire to go apline sliding at Attitash. I had fond memories of Attitash from the numerous ski trips I took with the mountain sports club in high school. Furthermore, after first being introduced to alpine slides at Mt. Tom I had I really wanted to check this one out. Their website actually claims it is the largest in the Northeast.

An alpine slide, is pretty much just that, a slide that goes down the side of a mountain. It’s really just a concrete track with banked sides that curves, dips and winds its way down to the base. You sit in a plastic cart with a handle… push the handle forward, you go faster… pull back the handle, you slow down and stop. So, if you go too fast, you wipe out.

Driving there we took the Kancamagus Highway (beautiful road.) Also, once while we were riding the chairlift we saw a little black bear munching on leaves below us – nodoby knew where the mother was, but frankly we didn’t want to find out.

And on a final note, the NH state liquor stores (conveniently located off of I-93) stocks some quality booze at quality prices.
