Weekend Update

My friend Andrew came up from CT this weekend and we got to hang out for a while. Went downtown to the Customs House and got to go to the observation deck above the clock face. Great views of the city. We also had tickets to the opening night of Farenheight 9/11 at the Fenway theater. It was fun to be in a totally sold-out theater with everyone glued to the screen for the entire time. Definitely one of Moore’s best since Roger and Me. This movie may just be preaching to the choir, but if it gets 10 people to vote against Bush, then it has done well.

After a lovely dinner in East Boston with some friends, Andrew departed and Jude and Chris visited. We went hiking around town, visiting an abandoned ski slope which is always cool. Some people had constructed a jump out of wood which must have been real fun this past winter.

Lastly, I need a new job. The moving gig was good for a while, but the work is so sporadic that I just can’t rely on it at all. So if you want to hire me, check out the resume and then do so!

Alpine Sliding

Well, yesterday was a real treat. I decided to take a friend of mine up to New Hampshire to go apline sliding at Attitash. I had fond memories of Attitash from the numerous ski trips I took with the mountain sports club in high school. Furthermore, after first being introduced to alpine slides at Mt. Tom I had I really wanted to check this one out. Their website actually claims it is the largest in the Northeast.

An alpine slide, is pretty much just that, a slide that goes down the side of a mountain. It’s really just a concrete track with banked sides that curves, dips and winds its way down to the base. You sit in a plastic cart with a handle… push the handle forward, you go faster… pull back the handle, you slow down and stop. So, if you go too fast, you wipe out.

Driving there we took the Kancamagus Highway (beautiful road.) Also, once while we were riding the chairlift we saw a little black bear munching on leaves below us – nodoby knew where the mother was, but frankly we didn’t want to find out.

And on a final note, the NH state liquor stores (conveniently located off of I-93) stocks some quality booze at quality prices.
